Cheap flights to South Africa and 7 other great deals we found in March

March saw some of our best deals yet for 2019. Including rare cheap flights to South Africa, some bargain deals to Canada and some great direct fares to Shanghai. Here’s a roundup of some of the best cheap flight deals our members received last month.

UK to South Africa for £300/£400s return from UK & Ireland

Cheap flights to South Africa don’t come along that often and this was the first time we’d seen Lufthansa routes to SA come in at good prices. The deals we found for the early summer dates in Nov - Dec are an especially great time to visit, as you can find it'll be warm enough to test the waters at scenic Camp's Bay Beach.

We saw some Aeromexico routes in business class go on sale in early March, followed the week after by a drop in their economy fares too.

There was some availability here returning after Xmas and dates over NYE too. Absolutely tonnes of destinations all over Mexico were included in this deal, most of which had just a short stop in Mexico City en route :-)

UK to Bangkok for £400-£500s

We’ve found some bargain flights deals to Bangkok in the past but these tend to be during off peak times. In March we unearthed some cheap fares to Thailand during peak periods (July-August). These options came through Qatar Airways and Emirates.

London to US for £200/£300 rtn

A United Airlines sale during March seemingly spurred British Airways into some price competition to Florida and a number of US hubs including Boston, Chicago and Orlando.

All of the Heathrow routes we found had plenty of spring, early summer and autumn dates to choose from with both carriers while direct routes to Florida from Gatwick were limited to May and November - January.

Direct flights from UK & Ireland to Shanghai for £300s

March saw some steep fare drops to China's biggest metropolis, ideal for anyone keen to take a peek into the future of cities :-)

The non-stop fare came from a price drop on British Airways' direct route from London, Lufthansa group also showed very competitive prices from all over the UK & Ireland and included checked bags.

Shanghai Travel Tip: If you're a fan of vinyl records, good cheese and craft beers, plan a visit to Beer & Records for a mix of all three in a single concept shop. (not sponsored, just a great place!)

Hong Kong return from £300/£400s

Excellent fares to Hong Kong came up during March from 5* rated Lufthansa's convenient routes, with just a quick stop in Germany each way. Lots of dates were scattered around the year to choose from.

We also came across plenty of Premium Economy fares in high £500s/low £600s available too, which were fantastic value for those taking a lot of luggage or after extra leg room :-)

UK to Canada in £200s - £300s

Some great looking price drops to Canada came in late March.

We found some one-stop fares with Skyteam airlines, Delta & KLM/Air France, with just a short stop in either US, Amsterdam or Paris en route. London routes included a couple of US destinations in Denver & Houston at attractive fares as well :-)

London to Taipei for £436 return

A rare direct deal to Taipei came up in March. Flying with 4-star Taiwanese carrier China Airlines, in their modern Airbus A350's.

This deal included extra checked bag allowance and had plenty of availability between March to June, including an Easter weekend fare.

Longtime members may remember China Airlines also fly to far-flung Guam with overnight stops in Taipei. Those flights in October - November also came in at the bargain price of £511 in March.
