When planning my Swiss train adventure, I was torn between two iconic journeys: the Glacier Express and the Bernina Express. So naturally... I rode both. And while they’re definitely both worth it, one was a clear standout. Let me break it down for you:

The Glacier Express - This is the famous one—the train you’ve probably seen all over social media, gliding past snowy peaks and swooping viaducts. After a spot of online research, I was sold.

Pros:

• Giant panoramic windows = epic mountain, glacier, and viaduct views. 
• Food and drink service onboard, even if you’re riding second class (like me) instead of dropping big bucks on Excellence.

Cons:

• Honestly? The scenery wasn’t quite as spectacular as the Bernina.
• It's a bit pricier, both for the ticket and the seat reservation.

The Bernina Express - This one flew under my radar—but wow, am I glad I stumbled onto it. It’s a different route through the Alps, and while the train itself is more casual, the views completely stole the show.

Pros:

• The scenery is next-level—absolutely stunning from start to finish.
• Slightly easier on the wallet than the Glacier Express.

Cons:

• No onboard food or drink service (but feel free to pack yourself a nice Swiss cheese & charcuterie picnic!)
• The train’s not quite as posh—but who cares when the views are *chef’s kiss*?

Hot tip: Regardless of which train you choose, the windows do open. In the Bernina Express, you can open the windows right beside you, and in the Glacier Express, you'll find them in the connecting area between carriages.
