Credit where it's due, these budget airlines sure know how to deliver the routes we love to see.

Deals to the Azores usually show up with TAP Air Portugal, but for like £100 more. So even after adding cabin bags to this one, you're laughing.

Trips here are a geology nerd's fantasy - you can descend into the lava tubes on Terceira, hike the rim of the Sete Cidades crater on São Miguel island and eat a meal cooked underground by pure volcanic heat.

Whale watching is also a major draw of the Azores. These dates are ideal for the end of the season, when you're most likely to catch a glimpse of humpback whales. 

As an added bonus, there are regular ferries from Terceira to other nearby islands. Aside from the chance to visit more cool landscapes and sample the local wine, you might even spot some epic marine wildlife en route :-)
