Tulum's new turbocharged airport has transformed into a bustling hub faster than you can say "eco-chic".

It's hardly a secret that the influencing elite rush to Tulum for some serious IG feed envy and world-class EDM raves, but there's more to Quintana Roo than gentrified beach bubbles.

For starters, it makes the perfect jumping off point for:

Vallodolid: Pastel-splashed and seriously laid-back, this city gives Merida a run for its money! Catch a bus from the ADO terminal in Tulum, it only takes 45 mins and costs about $7 each way.
Coba Ruins: Forget Chichen Itza, these remote ruins are much closer and just as impressive. You can catch a colectivo (shared shuttle bus) or an ADO bus and be there within the hour. Try to go between 5-7pm if you can, the ruins re-open at this time, and you'll have a spectacular sunset to yourself.
Laguna Milagros: 7 shades of milky blue waters, its Bacalar's secret sister. Thank us later :-)
